Study for the IOSH Level 6 Diploma

IOSH Academy is a recognised study centre for the IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Leadership and Management. This qualification is awarded by IOSH as an Ofqual recognised awarding organisation and delivered by IOSH Services Limited (ISL), a commercial subsidiary of IOSH.

You study our Level 6 Diploma online over two years.

We use Microsoft Teams and OneFile, an online learning management system, to deliver the qualification. You start with an induction with your tutor and the group of learners who you will go through the course with.

Online learning means you can study from anywhere in the world. You can fit it around work and other commitments.

You attend three workshops during the course. We'll send you the schedule for these once you're enrolled. You'll also be able to book one-to-one tutorials.

You’re assessed as you go. We'll tell you the deadlines for each unit and you'll get detailed, constructive feedback from your tutor and assessor.

It's a smart and inexpensive way to study at degree level. Successful completion opens up a world of senior occupational safety and health roles.

The IOSH Level 6 Diploma develops your skills and knowledge against the IOSH competency framework.

For the work-based assignments, we encourage you to focus on real issues and make recommendations for change that can be implemented. This is different to other occupational health and safety qualifications, which mainly use written exams to test your understanding of theoretical concepts. That means your studies make you more valuable to your employer from day one.

The qualification content is mapped against IOSH's competency framework. This means successful completion automatically meets the academic requirements for IOSH Certified (CertIOSH) and Technical (TechIOSH) membership. IOSH post-nominals are recognised by employers globally.

IOSH's vision is a safe and healthy world of work. By studying with IOSH Academy, you're supporting this vision and developing the skills and knowledge needed to make workplaces safer and healthier for all.

You'll study in a cohort of between six and 12 people, led by a tutor. You can contact your tutor and they will respond within 48 hours from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (UK time).

You receive a minimum 20 hours of face-to-face support, including:

  • a two-hour induction
  • three workshops, each lasting three-and-a-half hours
  • a one-hour tutorial for each of the three units
  • six hours of additional one-to-one tutor support.
