Diploma overview

The IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Leadership and Management is a degree-level professional qualification that provides the perfect platform for ambitious professionals seeking career advancement.

IOSH Academy is a study centre approved by the IOSH Awarding Organisation, which is recognised by Ofqual, the qualifications regulator in the UK.

The three units of the Diploma combine to give a balanced professional qualification that prepares you to play an effective role in your organisation.

You will gain advanced understanding of OSH legal frameworks and management principles, including approaches to OSH risk management and incident management.

You will learn how to appraise OSH performance and to take responsibility for improving organisational OSH practices and culture. And you’ll develop leadership skills that will enable you to have greater influence to achieve results. You will be able to identify areas for your own continuing professional development.

IOSH Academy offers group and individual support for the Diploma, including:

  • an induction
  • three workshops
  • assessment tutorials
  • additional one-to-one tutor support.

Our tutors are on hand to provide additional support by email, phone or Microsoft Teams meeting.

    You will study part-time for the Diploma, completing it in two years using our online learning platform. Online learning is a smart and inexpensive way to study, meaning you are not tied to a single location. We provide a structured programme of learning that includes:

    • informative modules
    • reflective tasks and formative exercises
    • supplementary physical text books
    • timetabled live workshop sessions
    • one-to-one tutor support (as required).

    When studying at IOSH Academy, there are no formal exams. You are assessed by recorded presentations and written reports. 

    You have several weeks to complete each assessment, working with an assigned assessor who provides tailored feedback and support.

    When you graduate from IOSH Academy with the Level 6 Diploma, you’ll have demonstrated your commitment to improving your OSH leadership and management skills. Employers recognise and value professional qualifications from IOSH, so as a holder of the Diploma, you’re in a strong position to advance your career in OSH and boost your earnings potential.
