Thanking all IOSH volunteers

Please note the image above was taken before the Covid-19 pandemic.

To mark Volunteers’ Week in the UK, 01–07 June, IOSH President Jimmy Quinn is offering a message of thanks to all his fellow volunteers on behalf of the Institution

Your volunteering – as a Branch or Sector Group committee member, as a member of a peer review panel, as a Council member, as a member of the IOSH Presidential team, as a mentor, as a member of our Future Leaders Steering Group – is an expression of your commitment, professionalism and resilience in what has been, without doubt, a very demanding time.

“Despite concerns for your jobs and worries for your loved ones and, in some instances, personal loss, you have demonstrated incredible commitment to your fellow IOSH members, putting their needs at the forefront of what you do.

“You have worked amazingly hard to ensure that they continue to receive the full benefits of IOSH membership, from well organised networking opportunities to advice and guidance, and active encouragement for their continuing professional development.

“Your contributions to IOSH’s strategic plan, in your regions and your industrial sectors, help to reinforce the key messages of WORK 2022 and support efforts to achieve it. You make us stronger together.

“Your experience, knowledge and connections have strengthened our joint initiatives with other OSH networks, but also with non-OSH bodies, with commercial organisations and even with governments. They add to our credibility and authority to partner with bodies like the WHO and ISSA on the world stage.

“More and more people have been looking to our profession for answers, and many have been inspired by you to join our profession. By helping to develop our Future Leaders Programme, you are encouraging the next generation of leaders in our profession.

Others have benefitted from your role as mentors, passing on your knowledge and experience. You are excellent ambassadors for OSH.

“People inside and outside the profession look up to you because you are role models for IOSH. You show great integrity, respect, competence and service.

“I am proud to be the President of an organisation which is supported by so much goodwill, generosity and humanity.

On behalf of IOSH and your fellow members, thank you.
