President delivers Turner prize
Vince Turner's outstanding service to the occupational safety and health profession has been recognised with the IOSH President's Commendation Award.
Now retired, Vince joined IOSH in 1996 and became a key figure in the development of what is now our South Midlands Branch.
He served the Midlands South District as secretary for 10 years from 2003, overseeing its transformation into a Branch.
Vince held different positions on the South Midlands Branch executive committee. In the role of communications co-ordinator from 2016 to 2021, he forged strong working relationships with external organisations and other IOSH Branches and Groups. His ability to find interesting and original speakers for meetings was valued by Branch members.
His colleagues on the executive committee benefited from his input and experience across a wide range of issues. They fondly recalled Vince's ability to bring out the best in the group through guidance and mentoring.
Vince said: "I'm pleased to receive a President's Commendation Award, although of course this is invariably a team effort and most satisfaction is found in managing successful outcomes."
