International Volunteers Day

International Volunteers Day, 5 December, is an opportunity for IOSH and organisations all over the world to celebrate the efforts of volunteers in supporting their communities.

Our volunteers play a vital role in communicating with 48,000 members worldwide, keeping them informed and up to date. They give their time freely in many capacities, whether acting as committee members for Branches or Sector Groups, representing IOSH on external committees, serving on our Council, participating in peer review panels, taking on ambassadorial roles in the Presidential team, or as a member of the Board of Trustees or one of its committees. Around the world, hundreds have acted as mentors to other members, passing on their skills and experience.

Vanessa Harwood-Whitcher, IOSH’s Chief Executive, said “My sincere thanks go to all our volunteers, who are so generous in dedicating effort for the benefit of their fellow members and the OSH profession. They, like many people last year, confronted unprecedented changes in the workplace, with some facing job instability and, sadly, the loss of loved ones. So, now more than ever, it’s important to recognise and celebrate the contributions made by our volunteers who have continued to share their knowledge, expertise and time. We are all very proud of them.”
