Finance expert appointed to IOSH Board

A senior finance professional with over 20 years’ executive experience in the UK social housing industry has been appointed to IOSH’s Board of Trustees.

David Blower joined the board as an independent trustee from Wednesday 30 March.

Currently Executive Director Corporate Services at Stonewater Housing, a national social housing provider, David is a CCAB qualified accountant with an MBA from Warwick Business School. He brings a wealth of experience in finance, risk management, governance, cultural development and change management.

Speaking of his appointment, David said: “The pandemic has shown us how important a safe and healthy place to work is for our physical and mental wellbeing. As we move beyond the pandemic, IOSH’s experience will be vital to help shape a world of work where everyone can feel safe and healthy.

“To support this new world of work, we are re-shaping our strategy and I am delighted to be joining the board at this time.

“Working globally with a wide range of bodies from small independent companies through to intergovernmental organisations, such as World Health Organisation and the UN, IOSH’s experience is critical. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to use my skills and experience to support our critical mission.”

IOSH’s Board of Trustees is appointed by IOSH Council – the representative body of the Institution’s members.

The Board of Trustees consists of five IOSH members and five others who, along with the Chairman, are non-members. It is legally accountable for all IOSH activities, assets and results, ensuring compliance with the charity’s objects and governing documents. The Board sets and oversees the implementation of the Institution’s strategy. It ensures effective governance and management of IOSH through the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team.
