Enhancing Leadership skills to Improve Competency
Overview:
Many in the Health and Safety profession are technically excellent but lack some of the skills and qualities necessary to manage themselves or influence their peers or directors effectively. This one-day workshop is designed to enhance your leadership skills to help you manage yourself, prioritise your workload, be more commercially astute and, most importantly, communicate to and influence your peers and directors effectively.
It focuses on many of the elements detailed in the Core (Strategy development, stakeholder management, influencing, business context, planning and implementation, financial management, decision making, data analysis, functional management, visible leadership) Behavioural (negotiating, prioritising, problem solving, self-motivation and discipline, communicating effectively, commercial mindset, driven by results, self-awareness) and Technical (Performance management, Responsiveness to changes, Health and safety competence, Integrating health and safety risk into business risk processes Proficiency with incident cost analysis) categories within the IOSH Competency Framework.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand why organisations exist and the importance of business risk management so that you can be more effective in selling the value of your function
- Become more effective in managing yourself and getting things done through others
- Be able to priorities your workload, manage yourself and your time, effectively communicate key messages and effectively influence others to get things done
- Understand who your stakeholders are and better involve / influence them
- Better understand yourself and set goals and aspirations
- Think strategically and align your role with organisational goals / objectives
