Are you ready to use your expertise to support the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession? Then this your chance, as we’re looking for an IOSH member to join our Finance and Investment Committee.

Who can apply?

This position is open to IOSH members at all levels. You'll need to be a fully-paid up member. Your CPD, where it's a requirement of your grade, must be up-to-date.

We’re keen to ensure our committees are diverse, inclusive and represent all parts of our membership. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Skills and experience

It’s an opportunity to build your skills and use your existing experience to create lasting change. We’re looking for candidates with some, or all, of the following:

  • understanding of budgeting, financial and investment management
  • knowledge of management and mitigation of risk
  • ability to interpret financial information
  • experience of internal or external audit
  • experience of overseeing budgets and funding arrangements
  • understanding of accounts and the scrutiny of financial information
  • understanding of policies and making policy recommendations to senior leaders
  • experience of advising on financial and management strategy.

Time commitment

You have clear and manageable commitments. Your responsibilities include:

  • four virtual meetings per year (additional meetings may sometimes be necessary)
  • reading and reviewing papers between meetings.

Appointments are for a two- or three-year term. Terms of office are staggered to ensure continuity. The role is voluntary and unpaid but we reimburse reasonable expenses.

Shortlist and interview

We’ll invite shortlisted applicants for an interview. These are likely to take place during the week starting Monday 19 January 2026.
