What does the committee do?

The Finance and Investment Committee supports our Board of Trustees with its fiduciary duties.

The committee makes sure we always use our resources to support the strategic direction of the organisation. It oversees IOSH’s financial and investment management. This includes:

  • development and approval of financial strategies and policies
  • review and approval of the annual budget
  • monitoring the investment portfolio
  • making sure we get competent independent professional advice on investment matters.

Who can apply?

This position is open to IOSH members at all levels.

We are looking for someone with these skills and experience.

  • Understanding of budgeting, financial and investment management.
  • Knowledge of management and mitigation of risk.
  • Understanding of interpreting financial information.
  • Experience of internal or external audit.
  • Experience overseeing budgets and funding arrangements.
  • Understanding of accounts and the scrutiny of financial information.
  • Understanding of policies and recommending at a higher level.
  • Experience of advising on financial and management strategy.

What’s involved?

You’ll need to attend four virtual meetings per year. It may be necessary on occasion to hold additional meetings. You’ll also need to spend some time reading and reviewing papers between meetings.

Appointments are for a two or three-year term. Terms of office are staggered for continuity.

The role is unpaid, however reasonable expenses will be paid.
