Ruth Boumphrey
- Job role
- Appointed May 2025
Ruth is an experienced chief executive and charity trustee. Her background is in research, development and regulation in the space and environmental sectors. She is Chief Executive of Lloyd’s Register Foundation, a charity focused on global safety challenges.
Member trustees
There are five IOSH members who sit on the Board. They are appointed by our Council and must be Chartered Members or Chartered Fellows.

Arlette Anderson CFIOSH

- Appointed April 2025
Arlette supports organisations to become more sustainable and has led change programmes, including for large multi-nationals. She is a Fellow of both IOSH and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Lesley Kavanagh CMIOSH
- Job role
- Appointed July 2021
Lesley has worked in health and safety, risk management and sustainability roles for more than 30 years across a range of industries and countries.

Paul Lindsay CMIOSH

- Appointed November 2022
Paul has over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry in the UK and overseas. He works for Jacobs on the Palace of Westminster restoration and renewal programme and sits on our London Metropolitan Branch construction section committee.

Lawrence Webb CFIOSH

Lawrence has more than 30 years of experience in health, safety and environmental management. He is currently the Chief Health, Environment and Safety Officer at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory.

Sonia Whiteley CFIOSH

Sonia is a safety and health professional of more than 20 years. She works in the international finance sector, having begun her career in construction and international finance.
Independent trustees
There are five independent trustees on our Board. They are appointed to the Board by our Council and are not IOSH members.

David Auger

- Appointed April 2025
David has more than 35 years’ finance experience. He has held senior positions in many large, complex companies, including international experience with the ‘big four’ accountancy firms.

Anthony Blackman

- Appointed November 2022
Anthony founded and runs two companies that offer professional development and training for people working in optics and wider healthcare industries. He has over eight years’ experience as a non-executive director, board member and trustee.

Bobby Chakravarthy
- Company
- Appointed November 2020
Bobby specialises in business strategy and strategic management. He has global experience in campaigns, funding, capital investment and business development. Bobby served as our interim Chair from October 2024 to May 2025.

Richard Rolfe

Richard is a senior IT professional with over 20 years’ global experience in the life sciences manufacturing industry. He has worked with multiple technologies from inception, build and implementation to full operation, but always with a focus on people, data and their security.

Stuart is a customer-focused managing director with over 20 years’ experience in the building materials market in the UK and Europe.
