Our independent vacancies are open to non-members with the relevant skills and experience.

We’re keen to ensure our committees are diverse, inclusive and represent all parts of our membership. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Before you apply, please look at IOSH’s conflicts of interest policy. At the shortlisting stage, we’ll ask you to declare any conflicts specific to the role.

What time commitment is needed?

When you join one of our Board committees, you’ll have clear and manageable commitments. Your responsibilities include:

  • four virtual meetings per year (additional meetings may sometimes be necessary)
  • reading and reviewing papers between meetings.

Appointments are for a two- or three-year term. Terms of office are staggered to ensure continuity. The role is voluntary and unpaid but we reimburse reasonable expenses.

How to apply

We need two completed forms – an application form and a supporting statement.

Your supporting statement should come from either your direct line manager (if in employment) or a senior industry peer (if self-employed).

IOSH members cannot provide supporting statements for your application. It must come from a non-member.

Please let us know if you need us to make any reasonable adjustments to help you make your application. You can email governance@iosh.com or phone +44 (0)116 350 0700 and ask to speak to the Governance team.

Fill out the application form yourself. Send your supporter a link to the supporting statement form for them to complete.
