Safer waves – sexual violence in maritime industry

- Date

- Webinar
Summary
Witnessing or experiencing sexual discrimination, harassment or violence can be distressing for mariners. Not only do they have to deal with the incident, but they may be far from shore and their support network. This can leave them feeling isolated and vulnerable.
This webinar seeks to raise awareness of the issue and the impact it may have on seafarers’ physical and psychological safety. You’ll learn how to:
- spot and call out inappropriate behaviour
- support someone who has experienced sexual violence or gender discrimination.
The speaker is Becky Golabek, the founder and CEO of the charity Safer Waves. Becky will provide signposting to support services and answer any questions.
Who should attend?
