How to renew

We hope you’re excited to continue your journey with IOSH.

You will receive an email before your renewal date with details of how to renew. You will also see a ‘Renew now’ link in the ‘My Details’ box when you log in to your MyIOSH account.

When you renew online, you’ll be able to change your membership details, pay securely with a credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa or Maestro) and get an immediate online receipt that you can print or save. If you don’t have a card that you can use to renew online, please call us on +44 (0)116 350 0800. Our office is open from 09:00 to 17:00 (UK time) Monday to Friday.

Renewal FAQs

Why has my membership fee increased?

We have minimised these price changes to enable us to support you through the current economic climate, while continuing to offer benefits, support and tools to assist with your professional journey.

Can I renew after my last renewal date?

All memberships are automatically suspended three months after their renewal date. If you’re looking to pay more than three months after your membership was due, you’ll need to contact our Customer Service Centre on +44 (0)116 350 0800 with your membership number to talk about your options.

If it’s more than two years after your last renewal date, you will need to start your membership afresh. You can join IOSH online or speak to our Customer Service Centre as above.

Can I renew in a different currency?

Yes. If you are renewing your membership in a currency other than sterling, it’s best if you pay online by credit card – your renewal fee will be automatically converted to sterling using the latest currency rates.

Can I pay in instalments?

We do not currently offer the option to pay in instalments. However, if you are struggling to pay you may be eligible to apply for membership fee assistance. Find out more about IOSH's concessionary rates.

Can I get tax relief?

If you’re a UK member who pays your own membership subscription, you can claim back tax relief at your marginal rate (either 20 per cent or 40 per cent).

To obtain the tax benefit, you should make your claim:

  • using a Self-Assessment tax return if you already fill one in
  • online or by printing and posting form P87 if you don’t already fill in a tax return
  • by phone if you’ve had a successful claim in a previous year and your expenses are less than £1,000 (or £2,500 for professional fees and subscriptions).

Find out more about tax relief at Gov.uk.

Why don’t I get a pop-up message asking me to renew when I log in?

There are a few different reasons why you may not be seeing the pop-up message, including the examples below.

  • Your membership isn’t due for renewal, or you pay by direct debit.
  • You didn’t renew in time, so your membership has lapsed.
  • You previously clicked ‘Renew later’ on the pop-up box, hiding it for seven days. You can still renew by clicking the ‘Renew now’ link on the MyIOSH page.
  • You’ve registered without your membership number or with a different email address to the one we have for you. This means the website won’t recognise you’re a member. Check your membership details in MyIOSH. If your details aren’t there, contact us on +44 (0)116 350 0800 with your membership number for help.
  • You’re not a member – however, you can join us today.
I don’t want to pay now, or I don’t want to pay online – how do I get rid of the renewal pop-up?

The renewal pop-up message will keep appearing until you renew your membership. It won’t appear if you have a direct debit set up. Clicking ‘Renew later’ on the pop-up message will hide it for seven days.

I’m a Student Member – what do I need to do?

You do not need to renew your membership until you have finished your studies. If you have completed your qualification, find out how to progress to your next member grade.

If you need further help or advice, please email us or call us on +44 (0)116 350 0800.
