IOSH Services Limited (ISL) study centre

IOSH Services Limited (ISL)* is an approved study centre for the IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Leadership and Management.

This Bachelor degree-level qualification is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to progress to senior roles in the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession. 

The qualification treats OSH as part of sustainable business practice with a focus on global operations and supply chains.

*IOSH Services Limited (ISL) is IOSH's not-for-profit commercial trading subsidiary. It generates a surplus which is fully gift aided to fund IOSH charitable activities.

Course content

You will learn how to advise and influence senior leaders on business strategy.

• Advanced occupational safety and health management principles in organisations
• Occupational safety and health integration within an organisation
• Leading and influencing in occupational safety and health

You are assessed through three assignments that include a combination of reports and presentations. Tasks are based on your current workplace. This means you and your employer will benefit from your work on the Diploma straight away.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable if you are aged 19 or above and have a:

• Level 3 OSH qualification, or
• minimum of 2 years relevant OSH experience.

There are also English language criteria which you can review on the sign-up form.

To study for this qualification, the Awarding Organisation requires you to be an IOSH member. All IOSH memberships, including Student Membership, meet this requirement.

The Diploma offers a route to IOSH Graduate Membership. You are also eligible for membership of the Institute of Leadership (IoL) at a discounted rate.

Mode of study – distance learning

The Diploma is studied by online distance learning through a combination of:

• e-learning
• workshops
• tutorial sessions.

Our course of the IOSH Level 6 Diploma in OSH Leadership and Management takes 400 hours to complete, including 165 hours of guided learning. 

You need to be enrolled on the course for a minimum of two years and maximum of three years.

There are four start dates available throughout the year.

Support

You study for the qualification in a cohort of between six and 12 people, led by a tutor.

You can contact your tutor and they will respond within 48 hours from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (UK time).

You receive a minimum 20 hours of face-to-face support, including:

• a one-hour induction
• three workshops, each lasting three-and-a-half hours
• a one-hour tutorial for each of the three units
• six hours of additional one-to-one tutor support.

You receive a digital certificate from the IOSH Awarding Organisation on successful completion of the Diploma.
