Offshore Group - letter from the Chair
November 2021
Dear Offshore Member
As we head towards the final few weeks of the year, let me share with you some of the achievements of the group in recent months. Following a successful recruitment campaign, I am pleased to be able to welcome four new committee members to the group: Chris Nattrass, David Fishlock, Graham Fisher and Noel Clark. I’m thrilled to have you join us on the committee and look forward to working with you in the coming months.
In October we held a webinar entitled Decommissioning in the North Sea – chasing excellence, where we welcomed Joe Leask, Decommissioning Manager, Oil & Gas UK, as our speaker for the session. The presentation provided an insight into activity and expenditure in offshore decommissioning markets from the UKCS and wider North Sea. It focused on some of the key initiatives we are working on in the UK to ensure safe, environmentally sound and cost-effective decommissioning. The session was well attended and, as always, provoked some interesting questions from those in attendance. The session has been recorded, so if you didn’t manage to catch the session live, please do take the opportunity to watch it on the IOSH youtube channel.
Earlier in the year, we held a virtual drop-in session where we discussed the challenges faced when deciding to return to workplaces as Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed. Those who attended the session welcomed the opportunity to meet the Offshore Group Committee and chat in a less formal setting than the online webinars. We have decided to repeat this format and have our next virtual drop-in session planned for Wednesday 15 December, 12noon GMT. During this session we will look at the Catch the Wave initiative launched by IOSH and how businesses in our sector are making changes and adapting business practices to improve their environmental, social and governance credentials. It will focus on what it means to be a responsible, sustainable and resilient business in the offshore sector.
Attendance for this event is free and open to all. If you would like to register for this, please send an email to bookings@iosh.com requesting the access link for the Zoom platform for this session.
I would like to thank you for your support throughout 2021 and particularly to those of you who have engaged with the Offshore Group and attended our webinars.
We are currently looking at topics for events which we can bring you in the early part of 2022, so for details of these, please keep an eye on our LinkedIn page and of course the other communications sent out from IOSH.
With best regards
Rachel Hendron
