Yorkshire Letter from the Chair

The IOSH Yorkshire branch has a long-standing tradition of providing its members with quality meetings at Rogerthorpe Manor, not forgetting our fantastic Seminars. Our aim is to deliver a wide-ranging programme of meetings for our members with the best opportunities for continuous professional development and networking with likeminded professionals.

We have seen our branch meetings grow in success over recent years with strong support of regulars and numerous newcomers. Our intention is to encourage participation and engagement of our large membership. Non-members are welcome to attend meetings, so if you know someone who might be interested, please do encourage them to come along. If attending for the first time feel free to make yourself known to a committee member.

I am very fortunate to work alongside a committee of very dedicated individuals who make these meetings happen. The committee comprises of a wide range of health and safety professionals with experience in various business sectors. Behind the scenes, the committee of volunteers work hard to ensure our members receive the best possible experience at each meeting. We are also using social media platforms such as Twitter and LinkedIn to reach out to those who cannot attend meetings.

Having been a committee member for around 14 years, I have been fortunate to meet many good people, many who have progressed to support IOSH and help shape the organisation. Some previous branch chairs you may be aware of, Paul Gillespie, Lee Patterson, Ewhen Hasioszyn (Ian), Doug Cartwright, Michelle Muxworthy and Tim Briggs.

It is my honour to serve as branch chair and I look forward to meeting the challenges and opportunities this year will bring. The branch appreciates our members making the effort to attend meetings, it is always encouraging seeing large groups of people at our events.

I look forward to welcoming you at future meetings.
