Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the South-South Region of the West Africa Division, which represents safety professionals across six oil-rich states (Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River and Edo).
As the Chair of the Region and on behalf of the Executives, I wish to thank everyone for allowing us to serve in our various capacities. The Executives are health and safety professionals with a passion for volunteering, as seen in the level of hard work and commitment behind the scenes to ensure our members receive the best experience at each meeting and event.
Our aim as a Region is to shape and support everyone through IOSH’s strategy. As a Region, we continue to provide a wide range of educative, intriguing, challenging and interactive online meetings with seasoned HSE professionals around the globe as facilitators to benefit everyone in attendance to deliver our members the best opportunity for continuous development and networking with like-minded professionals. We have had the best feedback from members on how impactful our meetings have been and how much they look forward to upcoming meetings.
While most of our members prefer face-to-face meetings, we as a team continually improve to ensure our online meetings are as interactive as possible through active participation and engagement of our members during meetings. Through feedback from our members, we get topics of interest and ensure we get the most competent facilitator to deliver the presentation to members and non-members; our online meetings are open to everyone. Region members are always encouraged to invite intending members to our meetings and to talk to their friends/colleagues about the benefits of becoming a member of IOSH.
To deliver the most to our members, we have an active and enthusiastic committee of volunteers to provide help and assistance with their CPD, IPD, Career mentoring, membership upgrade and even to give friendly advice. Our online meetings occur on the second Saturday of every month at 1 pm CAT. Details of each meeting can be found on our social media handles, and any change will also be communicated.
