Welcome from the Chair

I am Engr. Iyenoma Osazee, CMIOSH, the Chair of North Central Region. The Region sits centrally at the Federal Capital of the Nigeria and is the youngest of the Regions that make up IOSH West Africa Division (IOSH WAD). The Region started up barely two months before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. This has greatly impacted the way we conduct our meetings which have been mainly virtual since then to prevent the spread of the virus.

Our membership is spread around and within the North Central. We are strategizing to attract more members from other Northern parts of the country. The membership drive here has to be well packaged as the area is dominated by civil servants and only few industries: manufacturing and construction. Our drive and vision are that safety is everybody’s business and health and safety features in every area of life. This philosophy helps to break the ‘hard ground’ in our membership drive. Our members are in the various IOSH membership categories. The experienced ones mentor and encourage the younger ones in areas of CPD, including how to address issues in their workplace and other challenges they may face. The features of the region and the calibre of the members are clear pointers that we will be one of the major regions of IOSH WAD and indeed IOSH globally.
