Welcome from the Chair

Welcome to West Africa South West District web pages.

I am delighted and share in the joy of all members as our IOSH West Africa Division becomes a formal Branch of IOSH. The South West Region has become the West Africa South West District.

Our joy at the Branch formation is a result of the formidable work done by all members of IOSH in West Africa, with huge assistance from the founding members and preceding executive committee members. Indeed, it is a dream come true for us all.

Occupational health and safety (OSH) practitioners in West Africa have evolved over the years, giving credence to the awareness, technical review meetings and series of volunteering activities that have made the profession enviable and interesting for career starters. IOSH has played a pivotal role in all of these, and we look forward to many more engaging and strategic OSH leaders from this Branch who will contribute to the wider society.

The saying goes “to whom much is given, much is expected”. We know West Africa Branch will rise to the challenges ahead, will sit at the centre of health and safety discussions across the region, and continually drive the membership that has grown and will continue to grow over the coming years.

South West District is strengthened to engage with stakeholders within the region, collaborate with other OSH-driven organisations and drive programmes that will be beneficial to existing members and prospective members.

Once again, congratulations to every member of the IOSH West Africa Branch, and we look forward to good OSH days ahead.
