Message from the Chair

Continuing Our Commitment to Health and Safety Excellence

I hope this letter finds you well. As the Chair of the North Cumbria District of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), I am honoured to address our esteemed members and safety professionals who are dedicated to promoting health and safety in the workplace.

First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the hard work and unwavering commitment each of you has shown towards advancing the cause of workplace safety. Your collective efforts have played a pivotal role in creating safer work environments, not only in North Cumbria but also in the wider region.

Over the past couple of years, we have faced unprecedented challenges that have put our skills and resilience to the test. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted our professional lives, emphasising the importance of occupational safety and health like never before. Throughout these challenging times, I have witnessed the dedication and innovation of our members in adapting to the changing circumstances and implementing new safety measures to protect workers.

As we move forward, I believe it is crucial to maintain the momentum of our efforts and continue creating a safer world for all workers. Our mission to prevent accidents, injuries, and ill-health remains as vital as ever, and it is our shared responsibility to drive positive change and support your IOSH Strategy Activate 2028.

Moreover, I encourage each of you to actively engage with the district's activities and share your expertise and experiences with fellow members. Your valuable contributions and perspectives will undoubtedly enrich our collective understanding of safety challenges and potential solutions.

Additionally, our district is committed to collaborating with local businesses, government bodies, and other safety organisations to foster partnerships that promote safety excellence across various industries. By working together, we can amplify our impact and achieve even greater success in driving action from everyone who can influence excellence in global occupational safety and health standards.

I invite all members to reach out to the North Cumbria District Committee with any suggestions, feedback, or ideas you may have for enhancing our initiatives. Your input is invaluable in shaping the future direction of our district and strengthening our role in building excellence in our profession.

In conclusion, I want to express my deep gratitude for your continued support and dedication to the mission of IOSH. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of workers and their families and put people at the heart of social sustainability.

Wishing you all the best in your endeavours, and I look forward to a year of fruitful collaboration and progress.

Sincerely,

Gordon Pringle,
Chair, North Cumbria District of IOSH
