About us
IOSH Edinburgh Branch represents over 800 members who generally come from the Lothians and the Borders and West Fife who work for a large variety of organisations.
The Edinburgh Branch collaborates with the other four Scottish branches to run the IOSH Scotland committee. This brings the branches together with the IOSH professional staff, IOSH Council and Board of Trustees, to provide synergy to the work of the branches in promoting IOSH in Scotland and also link in with the Partnership on Health and Safety in Scotland (PHASS) network.
We believe one of our key duties is to encourage members to develop prospects by achieving Chartered membership of IOSH. A principal function of the branch mentors is to help members to do this.
They particularly concentrate on helping new Graduate Members through the Initial Professional Development (IPD) process to achieve Chartered status.
Dan Wilkins as the Branch Mentor including the Exec committee team will happily support and advise where appropriate.
Branch plan
The branch committee are here to ensure you get value for money from your membership.
We endeavour to take the branch away from the standard agenda meeting format taking members on site visits which will not only be interesting but also contribute to your continuing professional development as we observe how other professions manage their health, safety, welfare and environment. It also helps to promote health and safety in a positive way.
Reaching out to 500+ people and growing is a challenge but with a dedicated team, we are well-equipped to do so. We intend to make the branch network pages welcoming, easy to navigate and ensure all the information is up-to-date, relevant and informative.
By working with our Development Manager and various support functions at IOSH, we also want to take full advantage of social media - LinkedIn platform
The branch committee will strive to achieve all of these things; however we need you to come along, speak with us, share your thoughts and get involved. We are also here to support you, so please say hello.
We work closely with IOSH and our branch plan/strategy is firmly aligned and we continue to explore opportunities and improve not only as a branch also as a collective group of professional across Scotland, UK and on a global level.
Looking forward to this year as well as our usual branch events look out for joint branch events and the new regional events.
Remember it is your branch and we would welcome any comments or suggestions that will help us cater for your requirements
We look forward to seeing you on Zoom also face to face when circumstances allow.
Don’t forget to keep an eye open on LinkedIn , IOSH mailers for all up and coming events. We encourage you to share ideas, suggestions and feel free to get in touch. We are more than happy to grab a chat and a cuppa.
Thank you
The Exec Committee Team
