Join our Nominations Committee

Get involved and help shape our future

We are recruiting to our Nominations Committee. Find out more about its work and how to apply.

The committee makes recommendations to Council on appointments to key volunteer positions in our governance structure. These include the Board of Trustees, Board Committees, the Presidential team and Council itself. The committee ensures that these positions are filled with the most suitable candidates, recruited through open, fair and professional processes.

We are looking for independent, non-IOSH members to join this committee.

Why join this committee?

It’s the perfect way to:

  • show your abilities
  • develop contacts
  • give something back to your profession.

You can have a direct impact on our future, helping the committee fulfil its roles and responsibilities.

What’s involved?

We’re looking for people with a range of skills and expertise, including in human resources and recruitment.

Successful candidates need to:

  • commit up to nine days per year, including four committee meetings (mixture of face-to-face and virtual)
  • spend time between meetings reading and reviewing papers and applications
  • take part in shortlisting meetings (virtually)
  • sit on interview panels (virtually)
  • serve for two or three years initially with the opportunity to be re-appointed, up to a maximum term of six years.

You’ll need to be flexible, as dates are set based on people’s availability. These are voluntary positions and reasonable expenses will be paid when attending face-to-face meetings.

Who can apply?

Any non-IOSH member with the relevant skills and experience is welcome to apply.

We promote an inclusive environment where we celebrate and value diversity. We welcome applications that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills.

Please let us know if you need us to make any reasonable adjustments to help you apply for these vacancies.

All our volunteers are required to sign a volunteer agreement. This agreement has been signed by IOSH too, demonstrating our commitment to our volunteers and we ask the same in return. The code of behaviour is the foundation of this agreement. Our code of behaviour says what is expected of our volunteers. It provides guidance on upholding our values and outlines what you can expect from IOSH.
