Summary
Join this Ireland South Branch event for a visit to the Celtic Interconnector site. Explore key learnings and discover how this vital project, spanning 575km and set to power 450,000 homes, is shaping a low-carbon future and boosting Ireland’s energy security.
This is a follow-up site visit from last year's successful tour in 2024 to review progress and learning points from the last 12 months of construction, including the sustainability benefits of the project to the local and wider community. Moving this electricity across a distance of 575km, with 500km of the cable running under the sea, the Celtic Interconnector will have the capacity to supply electricity to 450,000 homes. It will make an important contribution to shoring up Ireland's security of electricity supply by providing a direct link to continental Europe.
