Leading Saudi Arabian food conglomerate Almarai has formed a partnership with IOSH in a drive to enhance worker protection standards across its operations.
Almarai, which is the largest vertically integrated dairy company in the world, and the largest in the production and distribution of food and beverages in the Middle East, employs about 40,000 people. It began working with the IOSH in 2022 to support the development of OSH awareness.
The IOSH for Business team supported Almarai through the process of becoming an IOSH-approved and licensed training centre with their trainer development programme. This work included supporting 16 of Almarai’s OSH professionals to achieve IOSH membership and putting them through a ‘train the trainer’ course to ensure they have the skills to successfully deliver OSH courses to their colleagues.
As well as being a global chartered membership body, IOSH is a leader in developing OSH training courses that play a key role in workforce development around the world. IOSH recognises the flexibility required to support the changing world of business, and through its IOSH for Business team is helping businesses put their OSH strategy first. Gaining the IOSH stamp of approval for in-house training is having a positive impact on businesses, their workforces, and the communities they serve.
As the long-term partnership continues to expand, discussions are already underway about Almarai introducing two IOSH courses in its everyday business – Leading safely for its senior leaders and Working safely for all staff.
