Sustainable development goal 13

Goal 13 is about taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. The occupational safety and health profession has a role to play in protecting workers and business from environmental unpredictability.

This is done through event business continuity planning and workplace adaptation and mitigation strategies. These include:

  • changing working conditions
  • re-engineering work processes
  • adjusting building and infrastructure design
  • conducting assessments of occupational safety and health risks resulting from climate change
  • setting thermal conditions in the workplace.
