Summary
Climate change is transforming the world of work, reshaping industries, job roles and workplace practices. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events and resource scarcity are disrupting supply chains, agriculture and infrastructure. They are placing jobs in sectors such as farming, fishing and construction at risk. At the same time, the transition to a green economy is opening opportunities in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and environmental management. It is creating a growing demand for skills in clean technology and climate adaptation.
This West Africa Community online event will explore how climate change is affecting workers and workplaces. We will look at issues ranging from health risks such as heat stress and air pollution to the rise of remote work and digitalisation. We will also address the disproportionate impact on low-income and marginalised workers. The meeting will highlight the importance of policy interventions, upskilling programmes and green investments in ensuring a just transition.
Be part of this important conversation. Join the discussion on how to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability, and how we can build more resilient and inclusive workplaces for the future.
