This Edinburgh Community event will provide a rare behind-the-scenes look at how one of the UK’s premier sporting venues manages complex safety challenges and large-scale events. Hosted by the Scottish Rugby operations team, the event will cover:

  • an overview of Scottish rugby’s safety, security and event operations at Murrayfield
  • the annual event calendar – from Six Nations internationals and Edinburgh Rugby matches to major concerts and third-party events
  • a look into the licensing and guidance frameworks, including how the stadium aligns with the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA)
  • crowd management planning and delivery, including stewarding operations
  • ingress and egress strategies and managing fan movement throughout the stadium.

Key challenges and opportunities facing the venue:

  • ageing infrastructure
  • resourcing for peak events
  • future stadium development plans.

The event will conclude with a guided stadium tour, giving attendees insight into operational zones, safety systems and event-day logistics.
