Become our President-Elect and Vice-Chair of Council
Help shape our future at a pivotal time
This is a unique opportunity to take on a senior and influential volunteer position within IOSH progressing to become our future President and Chair of Council.
This role also includes serving as Vice-Chair of Council, giving you a unique opportunity to influence both leadership and governance at a pivotal time for IOSH.
You’ll be fully supported throughout both aspects of the role by the Presidential Team Officer and the Governance team, ensuring you can succeed confidently in both aspects of the role.
Who can apply?
You must be a paid-up IOSH member, have an up-to-date continuing professional development (CPD) record and be one of the following:
- a Chartered Member who is on our Council
- a Chartered Member who is on an IOSH community committee
- a Chartered Member who is a member of an IOSH standing committee or sub-committee
- a Chartered Fellow.
What’s involved?
The role of President-Elect focuses on:
- promoting our vision of a safe and healthy world of work
- supporting the delivery of our strategy
- sharing key messages with members, the wider occupational health and safety profession and other stakeholders
- representing us globally at events and in the media
- engaging with and supporting our membership through the network of IOSH communities.
Alongside this you will gain experience in a high-profile strategic leadership position, broaden your understanding of the organisation and profession, and prepare to transition into the role President and Chair of Council.
As President-Elect, your time commitment will generally be lighter. As not all activities require attendance in person, this may range from one to eight hours per month. Once you take on the role of President, your expected commitment will increase to approximately 30 days per year, typically ranging from eight to 32 hours per month.

We’re recruiting for a dual role of President-Elect and Vice Chair of Council. (to be ratified at the annual general meeting (AGM) later in the year). This dual role offers a unique opportunity to contribute at both Presidential and Council level, shaping the future of IOSH.
