Join our IOSH Services Limited (ISL) Board

A role that plays a critical part in overseeing strategy, performance, and governance

IOSH Services Limited (ISL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), responsible for delivering commercial services that support IOSH’s mission. We are seeking an experienced and committed IOSH member to join the ISL Board as a Non-Executive Director.

This position is open to IOSH members at any level.

This is a voluntary position offering the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of a purpose-driven organisation.

Key responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • provide strategic oversight and challenge to ensure ISL meets its commercial and governance objectives
  • review financial performance, risk management, and compliance reports
  • promote the success of ISL for the benefit of IOSH members, ISL customers and stakeholders
  • act in accordance with the ISL Articles of Association
  • collaborate with fellow board members and IOSH stakeholders
  • uphold the highest standards of integrity, judgement, and accountability.

Skills and experience

It’s an opportunity to build your skills and use your existing experience to create lasting change. We’re looking for candidates with some, or all, of the following:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • strategic vision and independent judgement
  • ability to work constructively with all stakeholders to address unclear and conflicting requirements
  • analytical and strategic planning skills
  • an understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of a company director.

Terms of appointment

  • Time commitment: approximately four days per year (including preparation).
  • Remuneration: unremunerated; reasonable expenses reimbursed.
  • Location: meetings held virtually.
