Summary
Occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals face increasing scrutiny from employers, regulators and clients, with rising expectations around qualifications, professional standards and ongoing development. But what truly demonstrates competence in practice? And how do organisations distinguish between holding qualifications and being professionally competent?
This third of 12 sessions in our global Raising the Bar for OSH series explores how competence is defined, assessed and recognised in occupational safety and health.
Hosted by IOSH's Head of Awarding Organisation, Mike Smith, we welcome:
- Larry Masotti, Chair of the Board, Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP)
- Dr Veera Kumar, Internal Quality Assurance Specialist, Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI)
- Dr David Arku, Vice-President, IOSH
Together, our panel will share perspectives from across the profession, industry and leadership. We will explore the difference between qualifications, experience and professional competence, examining how these are interpreted across the profession. They will also share insights into what employers and regulators look for when assessing capability, credibility and professional standards in practice.
This webinar offers valuable perspectives on what matters most for competence and credibility in OSH, whatever your role or level of experience.
