Beyond survival

Prevention, support and post-traumatic growth

Date
23 July 2026

Summary

Recovery is rarely linear. It’s not about returning to who you were before trauma, nor adopting a “just get on with it” mentality. It is about finding a way forward.

While the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be long-lasting, recovery and growth are possible. This session looks beyond survival. It examines what individuals, leaders and organisations can do to prevent trauma, build healthier workplaces and support people when it matters most.

IOSH President Richard Bate will be joined by biomedical scientist and founder of Corpora Health, Christin Weil. Together, they will explore sustainable recovery, post-traumatic growth and the role of leadership, culture and organisational responsibility in supporting those affected by trauma.

The session also covers practical steps to build prevention-first approaches, strengthen support systems and create cultures where people feel safe to speak up and seek help.

Join us for this final, but crucial session in the three-part series. Because prevention matters. Because support matters. And because people matter.
