Safe systems of work

Edinburgh Community

Date
28 January 2026
Type
Event

Join us in Edinburgh as Louise shares her brother Michael’s tragic story, highlighting safety failings and inspiring action to save lives.

Michael lost his life in a preventable electrical incident at work. Twenty years on, the lessons from his death remain painfully relevant.

You’ll learn:

  • the real-life consequences of preventable workplace incidents
  • lessons from health and safety failures and cultural shortcomings
  • how to challenge assumptions and inspire meaningful change.

The session is a compelling reminder of why safe systems of work matter and how each of us has a role in preventing tragedies and protecting lives.

This free event is open to IOSH members and non-members.
