Represent us on a national construction safety group
Help shape how the industry responds to new risks and changing ways of working
We are seeking an experienced member for the Health and Safety Executive’s Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC), Keeping Pace with Change sub-group.
This sub-group helps keep health and safety guidance and standards up to date in a fast‑moving sector.
As our representative, you will bring occupational safety and health expertise into national discussions. You’ll help address innovation challenges and emerging risks. Your insight will help shape safe and practical approaches to new ways of working.

Time commitment
The sub-group meets up to four times per year. Smaller groups for specific projects meet in addition to this. Meetings typically last around an hour. They are held online and during office hours (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00).
You will also need a small amount of time between meetings to review papers and prepare your input. This is usually no more than an hour per meeting.

Skills and experience
You’ll need:
- Strong occupational safety and health knowledge in construction or another high-risk sector.
- A good understanding of UK legislation and emerging industry trends.
- The ability to assess new technologies from a risk perspective.
- Confidence communicating in multi-stakeholder settings.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to IOSH values.

Key responsibilities
As our representative on this committee, you will:
- Attend meetings and contribute to discussions on new risks and technologies.
- Share insight on new processes, materials and digital systems.
- Review papers, draft outputs and provide evidence-based feedback.
- Highlight emerging risks and opportunities for IOSH and the profession.
You’ll also be expected to promote our policy positions and feed back on discussions and opportunities.
