From commitment to achievement

We spoke to learners Ali Kamal Mostofa Rubel, Nashia Jahan and Nafisa Nir about their study journeys so far, what led them to the IOSH qualification, and the difference it's already made to their careers.

With a busy portfolio including Certified IOSH membership, working as a guest lecturer at the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) and writing three international research publications alongside his role as a Safety Analyst at Nirapon, we asked Ali what he hoped to achieve while studying.

"I chose the Level 6 qualification to move beyond technical safety knowledge and develop stronger leadership, strategic thinking, and management skills.

"It helped me strengthen my ability to communicate with management, analyse complex information, and provide practical recommendations. It also supports my long-term goal of contributing to safer and more sustainable workplaces in Bangladesh and internationally.

"This qualification has helped me become more confident when discussing safety performance with senior managers, technical professionals, and factory representatives. The course is demanding, but it is valuable for becoming a more confident and strategic OSH professional."

We asked Nashia what she's learned from her Diploma that she's already been able to apply in her role.

"The learning has helped me better understand hazard identification, risk assessment, safety management systems, leadership, legal compliance, and continuous improvement.

"In my role at Nirapon, I now review factory safety practices with a more structured and analytical approach. I have become more confident in discussing workplace risks, providing practical recommendations, and helping factories strengthen their occupational safety and health management systems."

Nafisa spoke to us about her experiences studying for the qualification, and how it has changed the way she views occupational safety and health.

"As the course progressed, I began to understand how concepts such as the value chain, management of change, safety culture, sustainability, and organisational risk are connected.

"I started looking beyond individual observations and considered how leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement influenced long-term safety performance. Relating these real situations to the course content made the learning practical and meaningful."

The final steps to increased professional credibility

The learners will be submitting their final assessments soon, with a view to completing their assessments by the end of December. We'll check back in on the team around then to see how they got on with the final stages, and wish them all the very best of luck.
