Change in IOSH leadership

Recent months have seen significant operational disruption and challenges at IOSH that have impacted members and customers. This has demanded close leadership oversight and enormous time commitment. As a volunteer, Ruth has dedicated significant additional personal time to her IOSH duties alongside her full-time role as Chief Executive of a global safety charity. 

With operations now stabilising, and with several new trustee recruitments underway, Ruth has decided to leave her position as Chair before its term end in May 2027. 

Recruitment for our next Independent Chair will begin shortly and will provide an opportunity to continue the work of institutional governance, operational recovery and building connections between our board, our Council and our wider volunteers and members. 

Ruth says: "It has been a real privilege to chair the IOSH Board, supporting the amazing and important impact that IOSH and its members have around the world.  The IOSH mission is close to my heart and my decision to resign has not been easy or taken lightly. This organisation is a force for good, setting the standards for keeping people safe around the world through the skills and knowledge developed through our training courses, and through the expertise and care of our members. 

"As the leader of an allied organisation, I will continue to work closely with IOSH and its members in our shared pursuit of keeping people safe and healthy in their places of work." 

Anthony Blackman will assume the position of Interim Chair whilst the independent IOSH Nominations Committee commences the recruitment process for a permanent Chair.
