Future Leaders Community

Support for new and aspiring professionals

If you are new to the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession, we want to make sure you're in safe hands. Our Future Leaders Community (FLC) is dedicated to empowering new and aspiring professionals. With a growing community of more than 7,800 members, you won’t be short of knowledge, experience and support.

Who can join the FLC?

Current IOSH members can automatically join if they are:

  • a current student member or
  • 35 years old or under, or
  • have five or fewer years experience as an OSH professional.

We understand that not all career paths are the same and that, even if you don't meet these criteria, you may benefit from being in this community.

If you’re a new or aspiring OSH professional and IOSH member and don’t meet any of the criteria, you can still opt in to the Future Leaders Community. Please email your name and membership number to futureleaders@iosh.com and let us know that you’d like to opt into the Community.

How can the FLC support you?

The Community can help you connect with fellow OSH professionals and utilise the professional and career development resources that are shared within the network.

You can attend the free events run by the Future Leaders Steering Group and other industry leaders. You'll also be able to access the recordings of past events and webinars.

How can FLC members get involved?

We are always keen for our Community members to share their expertise. Here are some ways you could help.

  • Represent the FLC at an IOSH Branch or Group by joining a committee or contributing at an event. Our groups are active around the globe and are driven by committees of member volunteers. You may want to take part in a panel discussion or help run a webinar, for example.
  • Connect with fellow OSH professionals either at IOSH events or via the Future Leaders LinkedIn group.
  • Share your story. Your expertise and personal OSH journey could inspire others who are keen to develop in their own careers. Contact us at futureleaders@iosh.com.

I believe this Community can really shape the future of health and safety”.
