Welcome to the IOSH Ireland Branch!
The Ireland Branch of IOSH was founded in 1982 with a handful of members and close support from the Northern Ireland Branch. Through the dedication of those founder members and the development of the profession, the Ireland Branch grew steadily and by 2008 it incorporated five Districts and five Specialist Sections. By early 2016 two of the Districts, the Southern and the Eastern Districts, had developed and established independent Branches. The Ireland Branch now comprises of two Districts (Western and North-Western) and three Specialist Sections (Construction, Fire Risk Management and Rural Industries). Each of these has their own dedicated pages.
Members are affiliated to their local district and may join any of the specialist sections.
The Ireland Branch committee consists of five Principal Officers - the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and Communications Co-ordinator - plus some non-officer members, a representative from each of the districts and specialist sections, and the Irish representatives to some of the UK-based groups. The Ireland Regional Development Manager is an ex-officio member and provides support and information as needed.
The committee is warm, inclusive and welcoming to new members, and is developing new sub-structures which will provide space for all committee members to maximise their contributions, learning and development opportunities.
The Branch Committee organises events and meetings to provide CPD and development opportunities for the membership, which now number more than 700.
You are welcome to visit the “Profiles” page to meet the Principal Officers.
