Chairs Letter October 2021

Welcome to the IOSH Humber Branch and the amazing coast countryside and city that makes up an industry that is worth £1Bn to the local economy.

I am extremely pleased to have offered our members first class virtual events covering a range of topics across industry. We have experienced some difficult times over the past 18 months, and I often wonder if the world that was, will ever be the same in the future. COVID-19 has had a huge impact on every walk of life and as health and safety professionals we have had to radically adapt and raise our performance to meet the none stop changes faced to us all in both our work and personal lives.

IOSH have also had to make changes, moving to virtual meetings as opposed to face to face and now talk of hybrid meetings. I am all for change and adapting to current needs, but I do miss the face-to-face interaction, networking and simply catching up with fellow professionals.

As always at the Humber Branch we continually strive to support our members, whatever their location, specific industry, and level of their experience, we do this through collaboration and networking with partner agencies, other OSH professionals and industry leaders by providing relevant, up to date CPD sessions from industry experts. Remember if you have a topic, you would like the committee to consider please get in-touch, we would love to hear from you.

Humber Branch events will be detailed on the IOSH Humber Branch Microsite website which will include virtual meetings, speakers, topics and following our presentations, questions and answers along with the presentation slides to allow members who was unable to attend the event to download at their convenance and digest the information at their leisure.

I look forward to hopefully seeing and welcoming you to one of our events soon.

Best regards

Raymond Bone (Chair)
