If you are currently studying for an IOSH qualification, an IOSH-accredited qualification or you are a safety, health and environment (SHE) technician apprentice, you may be able to apply for IOSH Student membership for just £15.
How Student membership could help you
- Career support and advice – get access to our Career Hub, helping you to plan and manage your career goals. It provides practical career development and job-hunting tips and advice to prepare you for your dream occupational safety and health (OSH) role.
- Bursary – apply for the IOSH Student Member Bursary, which exists to help train aspiring OSH professionals and support with their studies. Eligibility criteria applies.
- IOSH Mentoring – benefit from a mentor, who can provide you with support, guidance and advice, helping you build your confidence and expand your horizons.

When your course finishes
If you’re an existing Student Member and have completed your qualification, you’re ready to take the next steps in your membership journey.

Follow these three steps to find your next grade.

Send us your documents
Please send a copy of your official qualification certificate or results letter, transcript and an updated CV to studentmembership@iosh.com. If you do not have your certificate or transcript yet, we can accept an official letter from your tutor or qualification provider.

Qualification and experience assessment
Once you’ve sent us the relevant documents, we'll assess your qualifications and work experience to match you to your next member grade. We'll get in touch to confirm your grade and arrange payment of your first annual fee.

Pay subscription fee
You'll need to pay the one-off renewal fee for your new grade. The current annual subscription rates, which are valid until 31 March 2025, are:
- Technical Member – £153.00
- Certified Member – £170.00.
How to extend your Student membership
If you're extending your studies, please email us an official confirmation from your university or course provider. This needs to include the new end date. We can then extend your Student membership.
Ending your membership
If you choose not to progress, your membership ends three months after your qualification finishes.
