My IPD

Enrol on our scheme and update your Initial Professional Development

Certified Members, join our Initial Professional Development (IPD) scheme to progress to Chartered status.

IPD includes an assessment process, continuing professional development (CPD) review and Peer Review Interview. There are multiple IPD routes and the one you take depends on the qualification you achieved to reach Certified membership.

We will support you throughout the process.

If you successfully complete the assessment process, CPD review and interview, you will achieve IOSH Chartered membership.

On this page you can find out the following information.

What is IPD?

IPD is a one-off assessment process IOSH Certified Members must go through to become Chartered.

Certified Members, you will take one of the three current routes below. Your route will be set by IOSH, based on the qualifications you submitted to IOSH to reach your current grade, and can be confirmed by IOSH's Professional Development and Standards team. Please note you cannot select your own route.

Check out the information below and click on the buttons for full details of each of the routes. All registered members are given two years to complete the assessment stage of IPD.

Please note that you will need to use our new CPD platform, Blueprint, to record your CPD.

IPD update

IPD remains open for members looking to progress to Chartered status. We will replace it with the new Professional Development Assessment (PDA) route, which will launch no earlier than spring 2024 and cost £550.

In certain circumstances and for the first time, we can offer concessionary fees to members wanting to enrol on a professional development route. Check if you’re eligible for a 50 per cent discount.

We will publish full details closer to the launch date. In the meantime, please keep an eye on your inbox.
