The IOSH Student Member Bursary

We’re not currently accepting applications for our Student Bursary. We’ll update this page with details when the next funding round is due to open.

The IOSH Student Member Bursary exists to support our Student Members while they complete their IOSH-accredited qualifications.

IOSH became a beneficiary of the will of the late Howard Phillips during 2011 and set up this fund in his memory.

Since then, we have continued to contribute to the bursary fund to support our Student Members.

Awarding decisions

The latest bursary window closed on Monday 15 December, 2025.

Awarding decision are made by a staff panel from across IOSH. We’ll share the panel’s decision with each applicant by Monday 23 January, 2026 at the latest.

If successful, we’ll contact you to ask for your bank details and payment will then be made as soon as possible.

Bursary recipent Racheal David

“As someone passionate about advancing my career in health and safety, I applied because I wanted to invest in my education and professional development," said Racheal David.

"The bursary seemed like a great way to support those goals. I used the money as part-payment for ISO 14001 and 9001 courses. The financial support has been a huge help in gaining the qualifications and knowledge I need to excel in the industry.
