Volunteering for an IOSH community is a rewarding way to achieve personal growth and make a real difference. It provides the opportunity for you to play your part in making workplaces safer and healthier.

We’re keen to ensure our committees are diverse, inclusive, and represent all parts of our membership.

Our co-option application process for community committees is designed to be clear and transparent, so you know exactly what to expect. If you need any help to apply, please contact communities@iosh.com

Who can apply?

Before you begin, please ensure that you have the competencies and capabilities requested by your community. You also need to meet the eligibility requirements.  

You must:

  • Be a member of the specific community that you are applying for
  • Be continuing professional development (CPD) compliant according to the requirements of your grade
  • Have paid your annual membership subscription
  • Not be in financial arrears to the Institution
  • Not be a current member of the committee 
  • Not applied for a committee position within the last 12-months 
  • Not be subject to any ongoing IOSH Code of Conduct disciplinary procedures.

Your commitment to volunteering

To join one of our community committees you will also need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be available to attend regular committee meetings, either in person or online
  • Be prepared to get involved in either contributing to or leading a project or event that supports our Activate 2028 strategy
  • Bring fresh and inclusive ideas that help make the work of the committee successful including suggesting speakers, topics, and initiatives.

This application form must be completed in one go. You will not be able to save and come back to it later.

Do ensure you complete the form yourself using relevant, personal examples of the skills and attributes that you will bring to the role.

Please note that we are unlikely to consider your application if you use AI-generated responses without personal examples. We will check for AI-generated content.

  • Secretary
  • Committee Member

In addition, your committee has requested that all applicants meet specific criteria for their Committee Member vacancy.

How to apply

    Explain your interest in the committee position.

    Describe your relevant skills and experience.

A co-opted committee position lasts for 12-months or until the next committee appointment process, whichever is soonest.
