New IOSH President-Elect sets sights on profession “fit for future”

A chartered safety and health professional and chartered building engineer has been confirmed as the new President-Elect of IOSH.

Dr Shaun Lundy takes on the role and is determined to ensure the profession is able to respond to the challenges of the changing world of work.

He said: “I’m honoured and grateful for the trust placed in me. This is a fantastic opportunity and a significant responsibility. My commitment is to ensure our profession remains fit for the future and continues to attract and support both new and existing members."

Shaun brings a wealth of experience to the role. Based in London and living in Enfield, he left the Royal Army Medical Corps in 2000, where he studied environmental health and occupational hygiene. Since then, he has worked across a variety of sectors, including more than a decade in academia at Middlesex University and the University of Greenwich, where he supported young people into the health and safety profession.

More recently, Shaun has worked for property risk management firm Tetra Consulting, where he is currently Chief Strategy Officer. He also serves as a Board Director at The Property Institute. Shaun recently authored guidance for the Industry Task and Finish Group on managing competence in building safety and continues to influence policy and practice across the built environment sector.

Shaun was confirmed as IOSH President-Elect at the institution’s AGM on Tuesday 18 November, having been elected by its Council, the body which represents members, last month. He will serve in the role for a year before becoming President in late 2026, taking over from current President Richard Bate.

His vision as President for 2026–27 focuses on strengthening competence, championing education, and preparing the profession for emerging challenges.

He said: “Success for me means a profession that is resilient, forward-thinking, and trusted by employers and employees alike. IOSH has a vital role in shaping that future.”
