Benefits of the IOSH Certificate in Safety and Health for Business
IOSH’s Level 3 Safety and Health for Business will provide you with:
- greater credibility and confidence talking to senior management about safety and health in business
- an understanding of what safety and health contributes in a business context
- real-world knowledge and skills that organisations and employers demand
- an understanding of organisational culture and techniques
- a route to IOSH membership and its benefits.
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification. However, for those just starting in this field we do recommend that the learner undertakes IOSH Managing Safely ® to obtain the foundational knowledge required to complete this qualification.
Delegates in the UK will need to be able to demonstrate understanding at approximately Level 2 - this could be five GCSEs or a Functional Skills Level 2 certificate. For overseas delegates or for non-native English speakers, this could be a recent IELTS test score of 6 or higher. Learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.
The qualification covers three mandatory units, with assessments at the end of each one. The assessments are practical and can be applied to an organisation or real-life scenario. For the e-learning option, assessments will be completed virtually and uploaded using the e-portfolio platform.

Develop and write a business case
How to influence a safety and health culture within an organisation
A strategic, business-focused approach to safety and health
Develop and deliver a presentation

This course consists of one-to-one learning hours made up of 10 days’ worth of e-learning sessions and self-study. You can complete the course at your own pace, with a maximum time limit of 24 months.
You will have access to a virtual tutor who can guide you with any questions you might have along the way.
The course is assessment based, so there will be no complex, sit-down exams. Assessments can be applied to your workplace or a case study of your choosing.
