IOSH Honorary Fellowship awarded to Er. Ho Siong Hin

Er. Ho Siong Hin was awarded an IOSH Honorary Fellowship at the IOSH Singapore Branch AGM on 25 June 2020. He is the first Honorary Fellow in Singapore.

The Honorary Fellowship award is the highest level of honour IOSH bestows on individuals who have contributed to the OSH profession in a highly significant way.

Er. Ho is a Senior Director for International Workplace Safety and Health at Ministry of Manpower (MOM), was an IOSH Honorary Vice-President and a past recipient of our President’s Distinguished Service Award. He has been instrumental in promoting OSH in Singapore and his support for the IOSH Singapore Branch has been exceptional.

On receiving his award, Er. Ho said: “This recognition from IOSH, is really a recognition of achievements not by me, but many stakeholders, friends and professionals who have worked with us on this journey. I thank everyone who has worked hard with passion and dedication to make our workplaces safer.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learnt on this journey, it is to have passion; for without passion we can’t maintain efforts. There are many ups and downs. You need passion to persevere in making our workplaces both in Singapore and beyond safer and healthier for workers. I’d like to thank the IOSH Singapore Branch for the nomination and IOSH for the award.”

Chair of the IOSH Singapore Branch Darren Brunton said: “We nominated Er. Ho for the IOSH Honorary Fellowship award to recognise his life-long leadership, dedication and exemplary achievement in promoting workplace safety and health in Singapore. This has led to an established safety culture and leading framework that is benchmarked in the top four in developing countries, which other nations look to emulate. The Honorary Fellowship award to Er. Ho marks a significant milestone to our Singapore Branch, to Asia Pacific region, to IOSH, and to the safety world.”

IOSH Chief Executive Bev Messinger and Immediate Past President Dr Vincent Ho also attended the meeting to mark Er. Ho’s outstanding achievements.

Vincent said: “Over the past 20 years, we have witnessed Singapore flourished to be a leader in safety in ASEAN countries. This is no easy task and cannot be achieved without strong leadership from the government and a wholeheartedly collaboration between the government, industry, professional community, and individuals. Every time when I mention the exemplary success of our Singapore Branch to our IOSH members, and within other branches and networks, our conversation always points to Er. Ho.”

OSH professionals from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and the UK joined the Singapore Branch AGM via Zoom to congratulate Er. Ho on receiving his award.
