Welcome to the webpage of the Highlands and Islands Branch.
Chairs Letter 2021
As the most northerly of the IOSH branches, our diverse, remote and rural region not only boasts some spectacular landscapes, scenery and historic sites, it is home to a number of health and safety professionals who live and work across the Highlands, Western and Northern Isles.
We look to support our members, whatever their location, industry, and stage of their OSH journey, through collaboration and networking with partner agencies, other OSH professionals and industry leaders via an extensive CPD programme and mentoring.
We seek to engage with the people, education providers and businesses of the H&I region, to promote the understanding of our profession and what OSH professionals bring to the table, so that everyone benefits from safe working practices, environments and encouraging young people to consider OSH as a career.
Branch events are detailed on the IOSH website and on our LinkedIn page – some of these are delivered remotely, by virtual meeting or webinar (available for viewing retrospectively), as given our geography, we understand that travel to Inverness is not always possible for our members.
Our meetings are held in Inverness on the first Thursday of September - December and from March – June. There are no meetings in July, August (school holidays), and January or February (winters can be harsh up here!). We welcome members and non-members alike.
I look forward to hopefully seeing and welcoming you to one of our events in the future.
