Student Member Progression

As an IOSH Student Member, we prepare you for success by supporting you throughout your studies and equipping you with tools to increase your post-study employability and gain a competitive edge in the workplace.

That support doesn’t stop when you graduate though. If you’ve completed your qualification, that means you’re ready to progress to your next IOSH Member grade. Depending on your qualification, you'll be able to progress to Graduate Member, Technical Member or Associate Member. We’ll contact you when you’ve completed your qualification and you’ll be given a maximum of three months to progress your membership.

You’ve worked hard to complete your qualification and now it’s time to take the next step. By continuing your IOSH journey and progressing to the next member grade, you’re demonstrating your commitment and credibility. As the world’s leading chartered professional body for people responsible for safety and health in the workplace, we’re here to support you. We have more than 47,000 members, representing every industry, in over 130 countries. Below are some of the benefits of progressing with IOSH.

You’ll keep your free access to the  IOSH Mentoring  platform as well as the  Career Hubwhich offers a wealth of tools and resourcesto support you through every stage of the job application process, as well as a huge library of e-learning content to help you develop your business skills.

If you continue your membership journey with us, you can showcase your achievements and subject knowledge by using your post-nominal letters (AIOSH, TechIOSH, GradIOSH) on your business cards and email signature. Using the IOSH designation after your name could be your key to unlocking professional opportunities around the world.

I'm ready to progress, what do I do?

Please send a copy of your official qualification certificate or results letter and an updated CV to Studentmembership@iosh.com.

What happens once I've sent my email?

Once you’ve sent us the relevant documents, a qualification assessment will take place. Once we have checked your qualification, we’ll get in touch to arrange payment for your first annual fee and get you started with your new membership category.

 

How much does it cost?

As a Student Member progressing to your next Member grade, you’ll need to pay the renewal fee relevant to the grade you’re moving into. The current annual subscription rates (renewals only) for 2021-2022 are as follows:

Associate Member - £133
Technical Member - £133
Graduate Member* - £148

*Graduate Members pay an additional one-off charge of £160 when they register to start initial professional development (IPD) to be able to then progress to Chartered Member.

I haven't finished my studies yet.

If your studies have been extended, please email us an official confirmation from your University or course provider which includes the new end date, and we'll extend your Student Membership accordingly.

What are my membership subscription payment options if I've been affected by the coronavirus?

If you've been adversely affected by the coronavirus, our team will be able to discuss the different payment options available to you. Depending on your situation, you might be eligible for one of our concessionary rates.


If you choose not to progress then three months after your qualification end date your membership with IOSH will cease. This will mean you will no longer have access to any member benefits such as CPD, the IOSH Career Hub, IOSH Mentoring or the IOSH Magazine.
