In the Oil and Gas offshore industry on an installation the primary method of escape in a catastrophic emergency situation is by Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Craft (TEMPSC). Some people may argue and say that the primary method of escape is by Helicopter, which is great if you have one on board, but not many installations have the facilities to house one. They are also limited to the number of persons that can be evacuated per flight, plus the pilot will consider the safety of the aircraft – therefore Helicopters should be considered “preferred” and TEMPSC as “primary” methods of evacuation from an oil and gas installation.
