I am truly humbled and honoured to be Branch Chair for the IOSH Forth and Tay Branch. The branch is still relatively young, and I can now build on the foundations that the previous Branch Chairs have built and would like to offer my thanks and gratitude to them. I would also like to offer my thanks and gratitude to my fellow committee members who all volunteer their own time to help make a difference.
During my time as Branch Chair, I want to focus on engaging with our local members and collaborate with other branches, institutions, and business to help towards making a difference and improve the workplace ill health and injury statistics.
Furthermore, I am also a member of the UK LOcHER Steering group and I want to collaborate with IOSH to get more engagement in this interesting field and also work towards getting engagement with the Future Leaders Project. LOcHER stands for learning occupational health by experiencing risks and was implemented as part of the Help Great Britain Work Well campaign by the HSE. LOcHER focuses on education establishments to engage students in H&S related projects to help prepare them for the world of work. I have focussed on the business application of LOcHER and how business can interact with our young workforce and local educational establishments with great success. My aim is to share and promote my experiences to all fellow members to try and engage their own young workforce that can help contribute to a safer and healthier world of work for us all.
