21 July 2017
On Friday 21 July 2017, the IOSH Caribbean Branch (IOSH CB) displayed an information booth at the HHSL Safety Systems Limited First Health Day showcasing the benefits of IOSH to a cross-section of both employees and company representatives.
HHSL is a training institute which specializes in the delivery of Quality, Safety and Emergency Response Training to the Energy, Construction and General Industries both locally and regionally.
The IOSH CB shared information on the IOSH's No Time to Lose campaign which aims to get carcinogenic exposure issues more widely understood and help businesses take action. The information provided to participants raised their awareness of a significant health issue facing workers in the UK and internationally. The practical advice on preventing and managing exposures at work generated a great deal of interest among visitors to the booth.
A census on the number of personnel visiting the booth and expressing an interest in the information revealed that there is a high demand for IOSH publications and the need for a greater involvement by the IOSH CB in other companies. Members of the CB Executive Committee held wide ranging discussions with participants outlining the benefits of membership and provided details on the Caribbean Branch's upcoming activities.
